The purpose of the MSc in Hospitality and Tourism Management is the provision of a high level of education to graduates and those working in the tourism and hospitality industry, while equipping them with an appropriate skill-set in modern business management methods and tools, as well as the necessary knowledge to respond to the continuous developments that shape the tourism industry.
The particular objectives of the Master’s program include, inter alia:
- The provision of knowledge and skill set for the effective design and development of innovative tourism products and businesses.
- Training in contemporary methods and practices to support an informed decision making process in their professional field
- Equipping future employees with the right tools to take up managerial positions in the hospitality, catering and tourism sectors, while at the same time building or updating self-employed entrepreneurs’ and business owners’ skill-set and expertise in order to make them more adept to competition and sustainability challenges.
- Training in methods and principles that will enable graduates to seek for continuous learning and self-improvement in a rapidly evolving professional environment.
- Contributing to the wider regional economic and technological milieu, through the concentration on the sustainability principles that are currently sought after in the regional smart specialization strategy.
The MSc in “Hospitality and Tourism Management” is provided at either full or part-time mode. The curriculum consists of a total of 8 courses, 4 per taught semester. All courses correspond to 7.5 ECTS. For the successful completion of the master’s degree, students also have to write up a thesis, corresponding to 30 ECTS.
The taught part of the MSc course is held exclusively during the winter semester (November – March) each year. The preparation of the master’s thesis takes place during the spring semester of the second academic year.
